OUR STORY

Hey there! I’m Joe Clukey, your average middle-aged guy who rolls out of bed each morning with a few creaks and groans—but it’s nothing a strong cup of coffee can’t handle! I’ve also been rocking Type 1 diabetes for a while now, which likes to throw a little extra spice into my daily routine. Over the last 10 years I’ve had my battles with pain, really starting with a severe case of sciatica that lasted almost 2 years —sometimes so intense I was this close to trading my sneakers for a cane. But instead of throwing in the towel, I turned into a bit of a health detective, determined to crack the case of managing my Type 1 and minimizing my daily aches and pains – to the best any working person can do with limited extra time to train, stretch, eat right, etc..

Along the way, I’ve had some fun tinkering with all sorts of fixes—tweaking my meals, trying out different supplements, hitting the gym, and even going on a 2-year raw smoothy diet, which frankly worked miracles but almost impossible to stick with.  I was only able to do this because I was at home all the time due to the covid shuts downs.  No magic cure for diabetes yet, but I’ve stumbled upon some winning tricks to tame the pain, boost my energy, and take back the reins of my day-to-day life. It’s less about banishing every ache and more about staying one step ahead of them. Through a mix of stubbornness, curiosity, and a little trial-and-error magic, I’ve found ways to move smoother, feel tougher, and live bigger—challenges and all.

When I’m not playing health guinea pig, I’m all about family life with my awesome wife, Mary Grace, and our two boys, ages 10 and 13. We’re a sporty crew, basically living on fields and courts. Mary Grace, a former collegiate track athlete, handed down her speed and love for running to the kids, so track and field is in our blood – for at least 3 out of the 4 of us. But we don’t stop there—basketball and football keep our calendars buzzing with practices, games, and epic family cheering sessions.

Being such a sports-obsessed squad means we get to geek out over cool gear, training toys, and gadgets that promise to level up performance. I’m a total sucker for tech and numbers, so I’m always tracking stats, testing results, and hunting for the next big thing to make training smarter—or just more fun. Whether it’s for chasing PRs or goofing off, I’m game to try it out. We’re excited to spill the beans on what works, what flops, and everything in between—hoping our adventures can give you a leg up on your own fitness and performance goals.
